We will pick you up from your hostel around 8:30 am in our touristic bus to start our visit to the following places:
Maras:
Located west of Cusco at 3,300 meters over sea, from there you can see the Cordillera Urubamba and the snowy peaks of "Veronica" (5,682 m) and the "Chikon" (5,530 m) Its important occupation began when the Inkas Cusco nobles were stripped of their palaces in Qosqo and had to leave to settle in other small towns like Maras. It has a church made of adobe, typical small-town religious architecture, the interior of the church keeps paintings from the Cusco School.
Moray:
It is about 7 km southwest of Maras; this archaeological site is unique in the region. It is natural gigantic depressions or holes in the ground surface that were used to construct in its contours farming terraces with irrigation canals is therefore a prototype greenhouse or experimental biological station quite advanced for its time that helped Andean man of antiquity mankind inherit plant products they consume, a thousand and a half different varieties of potatoes, one hundred and a half of corn and many other products.
Salineras or "minas de sal"
Located northwest of the town of Maras, are constituted by about 3000 small wells with an average area of about 5 m², during the drought season it fill every 3 days with salt water that comes from a natural spring located in the top of the wells, when it the water evaporates, the salt contained in it gradually solidify, then the salt is hit and granulated, then the salt is bagged in plastic bags and shipped to markets of the region, today that salt is being iodized and its use is not harmful.
Finally we will return to Cusco at 14:30 hrs approximately.
